Our Story

Getaway Homestead didn't start in Kentucky. It started in a backyard in Hawaii, with a few chickens, a grain mill, fresh-baked bread, and a growing conviction that we could do better than what the grocery store was offering us.

We're Sean and Yaya, and for both of us, this journey is personal.

Yaya was diagnosed with Lupus at 18 and has fought for her health ever since. Sean's wake-up call came during Covid, when empty shelves made one thing painfully clear: we had almost no control over the food that sustains our lives. What began as a hobby of chickens, bread, and canning became a calling. We wanted to take back control of our health, our food, and our future. And we wanted to help others do the same.

That calling led us to a beautiful piece of land in Grayson, Kentucky, and Getaway Homestead was born.

Our Little Slice of God's Creation

Tucked into the hills of Eastern Kentucky, our homestead sits about 90 minutes from Lexington and 45 minutes from both Ashland, KY and Huntington, WV. But honestly? It feels a world away.

Step outside on any given morning and you'll hear the birds singing, watch deer slip through the forest, and catch wild turkeys strutting across the pasture, right alongside our chickens and guinea fowl. When you pull into our driveway, you're not just visiting a farm. You're seeing exactly where your food comes from, raised the way it was meant to be.

What We Raise

Today, we offer pasture-raised poultry and non-GMO, glyphosate-free eggs. In the seasons ahead, we're excited to add pasture-raised beef, lamb, pork, and rabbit.

Quality food starts with quality feed. That's why all of our livestock feed comes from Ernst Grain & Livestock's Wholesome Harvest line. It's non-GMO, glyphosate-free, and contains no byproducts, because what our animals eat ends up on your plate too.

Every animal on our homestead is raised using regenerative agriculture practices. That means we work with the land instead of depleting it, building healthier soil, stronger pastures, and a thriving ecosystem. We believe God entrusted us with this property to be good stewards of it, and that stewardship shows up in every egg we gather and every bird we raise.
